An engineer working in this position will be tasked with analyzing, testing, and qualifying mechanical and electromechanical components for use in HVAC&R systems, taking programs from conceptualization through launch into end use equipment.
Utilize engineering fundamentals to analyze and understand component operation principles and end use application. Develop detailed test plans to ascertain the component performance, quality, and reliability.
Take a lead role on assigned programs, developing engineering schedules, providing guidance in the development of product and material specifications, and coordinate testing and verification activities to drive activities to completion.
Properly document all engineering analysis and test data, and periodically report results to leadership
Balance the requirements of multiple programs, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
Work closely in cross-functional teams involving, but not limited to, program managers, platform engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, and component suppliers to ensure programs deliver on performance, quality, cost, and schedule.
Ensure Lennox drawings and specifications are understood and followed by the suppliers in design and testing. Ensure prints contain all pertinent and relevant information, complying with best practices.
Provide design input to improve product reliability and meet requirements when necessary.
Perform and review statistical analysis to provide risk assessments of a design.
Assist Supplier Development teams in evaluation of processes to support critical characteristics and proposed changes to product.
Participate in root cause analysis investigations as required, providing technical expertise to understand component construction and failure modes.
Provide sustaining engineering support of existing components, including preparation and coordination of verification/validation activities, markup of component drawings, and engineering change activities.
B.S. in mechanical engineering and 5+ years of experience in HVACR system design.
Solid understanding and demonstrated use of the principles of air-conditioning and /or refrigeration systems with experience in test, analysis, or both are preferred
Familiarity with major HVAC&R component operations, heat transfer processes and refrigeration cycle analysis.
Working understanding of six sigma principles.
Working understanding of basic electrical engineering principles.
Basic knowledge of DFMEA, PFMEA required.
Willing to travel occasionally.
Exceptional problem solving abilities with strong attention to detail.
Must be a team player with the desire and ability to collaborate with others in a team environment.
Skill in facilitating meetings, making presentations and communicating with cross-functional teams
